After Art School in 1966 I worked stoking boilers at a local telephone exchange from 6am until 2pm – just so I could paint in the afternoons. I then got a job at Rediffusion’s Graphics studios as someone there had seen my drawings and paintings in a graphic arts magazine, and they found me and hired me.
He had the most extraordinary way of playing the guitar using open tuning with his thumb over the top of the fretboard. The guitar almost became a part of him
As we were leaving David asked me if I would like to go with him to the Samye Ling Tibetan Buddhist Temple in Scotland. He said “It’s only £2.50 for the weekend”
