I was really touched by this wonderful American landscape photographer Christopher Burkett’s work. Christopher has devoted himself completely to a meditation on landscape photography and transferred these visions into stunning images of nature from across the USA shot in very fine detail. Christopher uses Cibachrome and 8 x 10″ negatives to create the stunning detail in his work.
My first exhibition was on Cibachrome which they no longer manufacture. Christopher Burkett bought 10 years supply of stock and devoted himself uniquely to this process. When he runs out of stock, as he says in the film with gentle but deep emotion and leaves the dark room, that will be the end of his photographic dark room world. I empathise with his devotion and commitment to his work and his sadness.
